Timothy M. O’Brien, President of Tim O’Brien Homes. Tim grew up working in the office and the field for a few large commercial general contractors in the Midwest, gaining knowledge related to project management.
In 1994, he graduated with a M.S. in Civil Engineering-Construction Engineering Management from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. The focus of Tim's post-graduate studies was the implementation of the principles of Total Quality Management in construction companies. In 1994, Tim went to work for Pulte Homes, in a new start-up division in Milwaukee. This eventually led him to a position as Division President with William Ryan Homes.
In June of 2007, Tim went out on his own to form a new residential home building company focused on building green and energy efficient homes. He continues to develop knowledge in building high performance homes through educational events such as EEBA and DOE workshops. Since the inception of Tim O’Brien Homes, the company has been honored to receive the Silver NHQ award in 2016 and the Gold award in 2017. At the start of 2018 the company has also broken ground in Wisconsin’s first net zero energy neighborhood, Red Fox Crossing in New Berlin, and is the leading innovator of Solar Energy homes, partnered with SunVest Solar, Inc., for the state.
Tim has been an active member of the local and state builders association, serving on the Single-Family Builders Council, the Habitat for Humanity Home Builder Blitz, and Chairman of the Green Building Council. He is a past President for the Metropolitan Builders Association, currently is a board member on the Wisconsin Builders Foundation; the education and philanthropic non-profit that supports the state builders association, and a board member of the Waukesha County Housing Coalition. He is also an active National Association of Home Builders board member and a committee member on the WCTC trades board. Tim is very active in several Waukesha area school districts running a home building project with the high school construction trades seniors at Oconomowoc High, Pioneering a brand new curriculum for New Berlin Eisenhower’s trade program to start in the fall of 2018 and has successfully started a program in Sun Prairie in 2017.
Tim is married and has three children. His family enjoys boating, wake surfing and spending time up in Door County, Wisconsin.
