Bio

Good Morning everyone! Happy Thanksgiving.

I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Rita. I am the "chief cook and bottle washer" here at ePlatMaps Interactive Maps. I was recently asked today to give a little background information about myself. Well, first of all, I hold two science degrees; one in Engineering (undesignated) and  the other is Textile Technology (which is Engineering, Technology and Management rolled into one degree).  I love to learn new things. For 23 years, I have honed my skills into several different skills sets: Software Development, Website Design and Website Development (front-end and back-end), Graphic Design, Marketing (traditional and web), photography, high-end retouching, business administration, payroll, accounting, sales and so so much more. I enjoy talking to business owners - listening to them about their business and helping them, giving referrals and doing some good old fashion networking.  Reach out to me sometime.

We are a very small family owned business consisting of myself, my husband and now our son. ePlatMaps Interactive Maps was developed by my husband Don (software engineer and USAF as Unix Network System Administrator/Programmer in support of the 9th Air Force Intel Squadron) and myself to help Developers, Builders and Real Estate Professionals track inventory, sales cycle status, and real estate marketing.

From HUMBLE BEGINNINGS - In 1998, my husband and I started our business originally as an independent contractor payroll house for contracting out (ie "pimping out my husband") to software companies here in the Research Triangle Park after he retired from the Air Force. In 1999, we retired my husband from his position as the United States Project Manger of New Technology at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to come and work with me full time. That leap of faith and the long long hours coding, flow charting, and brainstorming, researching.... is still at the heart of our business. We love what we do! As the old saying goes: "if you love what you do. You will never work a day of your life" is so so true. We enjoy creating. We enjoy giving back. We enjoy doing what we do best to help your business.

What do you do for fun?

Oh... This one was a little difficult to lump sum it into one sentence. It is best that I tell you a brief story.

Almost 15 years ago, we were asked to do (for free) a website design, website development, domain registration and hosting, email, internet marketing, graphic design a logo and photography for the first annual Carolina Pig Jig here in Raleigh. Not knowing who these men were nor familiar with their organization; he asked for a in person interview to see if they were worthy of this huge gift. After this face to face meeting my husband not only decided to donate all of the things they were asking but gave them even more... We volunteer our time and our services to many masonic organizations, the March of Dimes, St Baldricks and many more.

Thank you for making our family's dreams come true!
